[Vancouver, Canada] โ LingQ, the powerful language learning app developed by polyglot Steve Kaufmann, marks Cambodian New Year by releasing Khmer.
Khmer, also known as Cambodian, is spoken by roughly 13 million people in Cambodia and around one million more in neighboring Vietnam and Thailand. The language is a member of the Austroasiatic language family and has been influenced greatly by Sanskrit and Pali through Hinduism and Buddhism. Khmer is written in Khmer script and has 33 consonants and its own numerals.
As with all languages offered on LingQ, Khmer learners will have access to interactive lessons, personalized vocabulary tools, a community of engaged native speakers and learners as well as the latest AI-powered tools for a comprehensive, immersive experience. Learners will have the opportunity to gain proficiency through reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
โEvery language is a treasure, a rich accumulation of human experience, knowledge, feeling, and culture.โ said LingQ co-founder and YouTube polyglot Steve Kaufmann. โAs long as the proponents for adding a language to LingQ can fulfill our conditions, in order to make sure that the experience on LingQ is rewarding, we are happy to add languages. I hope to visit Cambodia and the wonders of Angkor Wat one day, and if I do, I will certainly take advantage of LingQ to prepare myself in the language before going.โ
Khmer learners have access to the Khmer Mini Stories. This course of lessons features everyday situations and the vocabulary and grammatical structures needed to take beginners to the intermediate level. Learners in the LingQ forum have described the course as โpainless grammar studyโ and reported going from kindergarten level to understanding top podcasts in their target language.
Khmer language courses are available on LingQ's website and app now.
