A Nobleman announced his intention of giving a public entertainment in the theatre, and offered splendid prizes to all who had any novelty to exhibit at the performance.
أعلن أحد النبلاء عن نيته إقامة حفل ترفيهي عام في المسرح، وعرض جوائز رائعة لكل من لديه أي إبداع لعرضه في العرض.

The announcement attracted a crowd of conjurers, jugglers, and acrobats, and among the rest a Clown, very popular with the crowd, who let it be known that he was going to give an entirely new turn.
وقد اجتذب هذا الإعلان حشدًا من السحرة والمشعوذين والبهلوانات، ومن بين البقية مهرج يحظى بشعبية كبيرة بين الحشد، والذي أعلن أنه سيقدم عرضًا جديدًا تمامًا.
L'annonce a attiré une foule de prestidigitateurs, de jongleurs et d'acrobates, parmi lesquels un clown, très populaire auprès de la foule, qui a fait savoir qu'il allait donner un tour entièrement nouveau.
When the day of the performance came, the theatre was filled from top to bottom some time before the entertainment began.

At once there was a hush of expectation: and he, letting his head fall upon his breast, imitated the squeak of a pig to such perfection that the audience insisted on his producing the animal, which, they said, he must have somewhere concealed about his person.
وفجأة ساد صمت من الترقب: ثم أرخى رأسه على صدره، وقام بتقليد صرير الخنزير إلى حد الكمال، لدرجة أن الجمهور أصر على أن يقوم بإخراج الحيوان، الذي قالوا إنه لابد أن يكون مخفيًا في مكان ما حول شخصه.
Il y eut aussitôt un silence d'attente et, laissant tomber sa tête sur sa poitrine, il imita le couinement d'un cochon avec une telle perfection que les spectateurs insistèrent pour qu'il produise l'animal, qui, disaient-ils, devait être caché quelque part sur lui.
He, however, convinced them that there was no pig there, and then the applause was deafening.

Parmi les spectateurs se trouvait un paysan, qui dénigra la performance du clown et annonça qu'il donnerait une démonstration bien supérieure du même tour le jour suivant.
Again the theatre was filled to overflowing, and again the Clown gave his imitation amidst the cheers of the crowd.

But they all with one voice shouted out that the Clown's imitation was much more true to life.

但他们却异口同声地喊道，小丑的模仿更加逼真了。
Thereupon he produced the pig from under his smock and said sarcastically, "There, that shows what sort of judges you are!"
ثم أخرج الخنزير من تحت ثوبه وقال ساخرا: هذا يدل على أي نوع من القضاة أنتم!
Il a alors sorti le cochon de sous sa blouse et a dit d'un ton sarcastique : "Voilà, cela montre quel genre de juges vous êtes !"
