In our recent survey, the thing that was most requested was an improved dictionary. We have been working to improve our dictionary functionality and we launched some significant improvements today.
You will now see a "Dictionary Settings" link above the Babylon translation in the LingQ widget on the Lesson page. If you want to use one of our "Other Dictionaries" as your default dictionary or if you would like to change dictionary language, you can do so in the Dictionary Settings. Give it a try.
Also, please tell us all your favourite dictionaries. We are now able to add them much more easily and will try to add as many dictionaries as we can. Would you like to see a language combination we don't offer? Send us a link to a web dictionary that does.
We have also upgraded our front page design. It's quite similar to the previous design but it's been spruced up a bit! We hope you like it. Of course, you members will have to logout first in order to see it.

We are building a spread sheet with resources that you can use for your learning. We hope to identify resources of language content consisting of both audio and text. Users can import any content into their LingQ account. To share content in the LingQ library we need to obtain permission. If some content is text only or audio only, members can, if they obtain permission, record the texts or transcribe the audio and share these with other LingQ members.
Please help us build up this community resource. Use it for your own importing news. But better still use it to build up our library.
To ask for access to edit the spread sheet please email steve(at)lingq.com

We recently upgraded the search on the Vocabulary page so you can now search by word component. For example, if you were wanting to find all words ending in "tion", you can now enter "*tion" in the search box on the Vocabulary page and you will see all your saved terms ending in "tion". Likewise, if you want to find all terms beginning with "walk" (walk, walking, walked, walker, walkman), type "walk*" into the search field. Finally, if you want to find all words containing "lik" (likely, unlikely, liken, like, etc..) you can enter "*lik*" in the search field.
We hope this helps you get more out of the Vocabulary page. Also, take a look at a recent video of Steve's on how to use the Vocabulary section.

VeraI is again dominating the points awards with over 12000 points awarded. As well, liszeth is back in the top ten with almost 1000 points. That is enough for about 300 words of writing or potentially two hours of tutored group discussions! A small investment of time can pay big dividends. Every time your item is selected you will be awarded points. See the points awards for June, 2008 for details on how the points are awarded. You, too, can profit and keep LingQ as the best place to learn languages!

The average activity score for the Honour Roll (the top 25) is getting close to 3000 points. This is up about 500 points from last month. Radoslaw is back in the top ten after a long absence. Dilemme has also come out of nowhere to take eighth spot. But the battle continues between darbanville and jeff_lindqvist with darbanville taking control again, just missing the 10,000 point milestone.
We are no longer awarding points to the top 10 Honour Roll members as the satisfaction of achievement should be its own reward! :-) We are saving all future points awards for content providers and key community contributors.
Spring has finally arrived in the Northern Hemisphere. With the warmer weather comes renewal of old desires, and more motivation to get things done. Perhaps you want to go to a foreign country to use your language skills. Maybe you want a better job that requires language knowledge. Whatever your goals, let LingQ-ing be a part of them. After all, language skills are always useful. Let's see how much higher our activity scores can be!
