The results are in on the recent LingQ survey. Thank you very much to all of you who participated. We received a lot of very valuable feedback from you which we have already started using to implement changes.

Both shuffling and reversing flashcards were high on your wishlist and they were added this past week. As well, the speed of the site was an issue especially for power users. We are still trying to address this issue. We're part way there and will continue working at it until we get it.

Next on the list are improving the dictionary and LingQing process. Stay tuned...

Brazilian podcast Café Brasil added to the Library

We are very excited to announce the addition of Luciano Pires' podcast, Café Brasil to our Portuguese Library. With over 2 years of podcasts on the Café Brasil site, our Portuguese learners will be pretty busy.

You will find Café Brasil here in the LingQ Library.

Thanks very much to hjcl82, one of our members, for recommending this great podcast and site. Café Brasil seems to cover a wide range of subjects. Each episode is about 25 minutes in length and would be great for you intermediate and advanced Portuguese learners.

Let us know how you like Café Brasil and, of course, if you find other similar podcasts that you would like us to try and add at LingQ.

Shuffle Flashcards, Reverse Flashcards, Friends' Activity

One of the most common requests we get is the ability to shuffle and to reverse flashcards. These requests were highlighted in our recent member survey. So...to show you that we are listening... :-)! These two features have just been added. You will now see two buttons under Options in the sidebar on the Flashcards page; Shuffle and Reverse. Shuffle causes the order of the current deck of flashcards to be shuffled. Reverse causes the Hint to appear first, followed by the Phrase and finally by the Term, as you click the "Show Phrase", "Show Term", or "Check" buttons. As always, try these features out and let us know what you think! In addition, we have added a Friends' Activity list to the Community page. Right now, you can only see when your friends post on someone's wall but more alerts are on there way. Stay tuned!

Successful Upgrade

The site has been back now for the last few hours. The latest upgrade was a success! Phew!! :-) Initially, there wasn't much of a speed improvement but it is behaving much more quickly now. The site is significantly faster now on most pages and actions. Let us know how you find things.

Trying Again

We're ready to try upgrading the site again now. We will be shutting down in about 10 minutes. We hope to only be down for an hour. Thanks again for your patience.

Update Failed

We're sorry to report that the update we were trying to make was not successful. We have restored the previous system while we try to figure out what went wrong. We still hope to make this update in the next few days once we iron out a few problems. Thank you for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience. We hope that when we do finally make this update it will not require such a long shutdown.

Almost there, we hope...

Sorry for the delay. We encountered a few unexpected problems but we are getting close. Hopefully, we'll have LingQ back better than ever within an hour. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Speed Upgrade

We are going to make some significant structural changes to our system this afternoon. We expect these changes to greatly improve the speed of the site. The site will be down for approximately 4 hours starting very shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience. We think and hope it will be worth it! :-)

フォーラムの更新、『友人』にメッセージを送ろう

サイトにいくつかの新しい機能が追加されました。「コミュニティ」セクションでは、メンバーの”Wall"上でメッセージをやりとりすることができるようになりました。誰かがあなたのWallにメッセージを書き込むとメールで通知されます。さっそくメッセージを書き込んでみましょう！

また、コミュニティページ上の『プロフィール』が別ページに表示されるようになりました。コミュニティホームページでは、友人リスト、最近のフォーラム投稿、友人のブログが表示され、プロフィールページでは、あなたの自己紹介と学習状況、またWallが表示されます。

フォーラムに対しても、細かい改善を行いました。
特定のフォーラムの検索機能、スレッドの表示順序の変更、投稿文中のリンクを有効化、スペルチェック機能の追加、そして、投稿したテキストをライティングに提出できる「Submit for Correction」ボタンを追加しました。また、自分自身の投稿で通知メールが送信されないようにしました。
投稿内容を変更することも可能にする予定です！
