What tools should I use to create mp3 audio files?

You must use a program called Audacity to record content for LingQ. Please follow the installation instructions below.

1. Download Audacity by clicking on the following link: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/.

2. Select your Operating System:

3. Click on the recommended download and follow the instructions to install Audacity.

 

4. After audacity is installed, go back to the previous page in your browser or to: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows. Click to download the LAME MP3 encoder.

5. Click on ‘Go to the LAME download page’ and then choose any of the lame-3.96.1 links.

6. Click ‘Open’ to open the file window and then click on ‘Extract all files’.

    

Click next to begin the Compressed Folder Extraction Wizard. On the next page create a folder in ‘My Documents’ called ‘MP3 Encoder’ to extract the files to.

 

8. Continue clicking on ‘Next’ until you’re done.

9. You should now see the Audacity icon on your desktop. Simply double-click on it to open Audacity.
