Content Sharing Guidelines and Terms of Use

We very much look forward to adding your content to the Store. Make sure to watch the video demo of the Imported Content section. When uploading content to share on LingQ, please refer to the following guidelines:

  1. You must upload text, audio (mp3) and an image for all content.
  2. Content must be free of copyright or we must have permission to use it from the copyright holder.
  3. Content should not contain questionable subject matter, ie. profanity, pornography
  4. Please try to ensure good sound quality by using a good quality microphone.
  5. Audio files must be mp3 files saved at 64 Kbps and 11025, 22050 or 44100 Hz. (Use a program like Audacity to record your sound files and prepare them in the right format. Click here for instructions on how to download and how to use Audacity.)
  6. You must include an image with all content items. The required dimensions for images are 120 x 120 pixels and the file must be under 40 kb in size. There are many programs you can use to resize images. The one we recommend is picnik.com in order to resize your image dimensions and to reduce the file size.
  7. We reserve the right to accept or reject any content that we feel doesn't meet the guidelines above.
  8. All "Shared" content will appear in the Store right away and will also be displayed in the Library at TheLinguist.com.
  9. All "For Sale" content will appear in the Store after it has been approved.

Contact us at customerservice (at) thelinguist (dot) com if you have any questions about preparing content for LingQ.

Before transperring the data, which means during July, I was able to save the audio file from the "Interesting Things of the Day", and I really enjoyed it. However, after completing the data transfer in August, I can`t save the autio file any longer.
According to the guideline, audio files must be mp3 files saved at 64 Kbps and 11025, 22050 or 44100 Hz. The one I want to save is at the different bit rate.
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Why was I able to save it before??

Mark

Hi Sumiko,

To adjust the bit rate, we recommend Audacity which is a free audio recording tool. You will be able to open your existing file and re-export it as an mp3 file in the correct format. Go to this post to see how to use Audacity, http://thelinguist.blogs.com/lingqcentral/2007/06/how_to_use_auda.html
Let us know if you need any more help.

Sumiko

Hi Mark, thank you for your infomation. I have not yet tried it, but I will check the Audacity and try to adjust the bit rate so that I can import my favorite contents to LingQ. Thanks!!
